Today we’re not only talking about saving money, we’re also talking about saving time. {After all, they say time equals money!}. It may not always be true, but when it comes to grocery shopping, we love all the time and money saving tips we can get!
Six {Grocery Shopping} Time And Money Saving Tips
1. Do The Numbers
While you shop make sure you stick to your grocery list, and then keep track of the numbers as you add things to your cart. It’s not as hard as it may sound. Round up to the nearest whole dollar and use a calculator as you shop. Or just jot the numbers on your list to help you keep track. Nothing is worse than getting to the checkout only to discover you’ve outspent the budget in one fell swoop!
2. Use Your Freezer
Your freezer is there for time and money saving tips–you just need to use it. Stock up on meat when there’s a sale, then stash it in the freezer. Make double portions of your family’s favorite meals. Save the extra one in the freezer for an easy dinner on a busy night.
3. Map Out The Store
You don’t have to draw an actual map, but the more familiar you are with your store’s layout, the faster your shopping trips will be. And the less time you’ll spend fighting the urge to buy stuff that’s not on the list {or in the budget}.
4. Shop During Off-Hours
If you’ve ever grocery shopped on a Saturday afternoon, then you know it’s the worst time ever. It takes way more time just to fight crowds! Learn what the slowest shopping days and times are for your store, and shop then. It might worth getting up at 7 am to shop when it’s quiet.
5. Try A Meal Plan
We love meal planning! Not only are your meals planned, but so is your shopping list. Find a budget-minded meal plan and try it out. You just might like it! You can also try planning your meals around weekly store specials and coupons to save more money.
6. Shop Solo
Nothing can slow you down like shopping with kids–or a spouse who doesn’t stick to the list. Whenever possible, plan to shop solo. It’s the best way to get in, stick to the list, and get out. Done!
