The focus of today’s post is buying in bulk. Buying in bulk is a great idea in general, because you can usually save money on the per item price over buying single items. That said, there are some things you should ALWAYS pick up when buying in bulk because the savings are real. Here are just 10 of those things.
1. Toilet paper is certainly one of the items you should buy in bulk. And not only should you buy toilet paper in bulk, you should buy it only when it goes on sale. Buying 4-roll or 6-roll packs actually costs more per roll than buying at least a 24-roll pack. So commit to this bulk buy if you commit to no others! Note that this is one item you can schedule through Amazon’s subscription delivery, so you never run out.
2. If you’re a woman or you have teen girls at home, then you should definitely buy feminine products in bulk. The savings is unmatched, especially on Tampax tampons at Amazon.
3. If you’ve got a beauty supply store nearby, check out the prices on gallon jugs of shampoo. These are quality brands, and if you buy them on sale you will save money when buying in bulk rather than in the small bottles available at the drugstore. Even at Amazon you’ll find a deal on a gallon jug of TRESemme.
4. Buy vitamins and supplements at your local bulk buying club {like Costco}. You will generally save money per pill over buying the smaller options at your local drugstore. And when Costco offers an instant rebate, that’s the time to buy more than one!
5. You might not think about this, but buying a bulk pack of toothbrushes is a money saver. They cost less per brush, and then you have a supply on hand and are more likely to replace them when you’re supposed to.
6. Baby wipes are a necessity if you’ve got little kids around, so why shouldn’t you save money on what you’ve got to have a supply of? Keep a good supply around and save money by buying them in bulk at Amazon.
7. Where there are baby wipes, there are usually diapers. And if you’ve got a baby around you’re spending too much if you don’t take advantage of the “subscribe & save” option Amazon offers on bulk diapers. Plus they ship them right to your door. What’s not to love?
8. Just like with the toilet paper, you should only buy laundry soap in bulk and on sale. And if you come across coupons, use those too!
9. If you buy meat in bulk, you’ll learn that the savings are definitely worth the trouble of dividing it up into smaller portions and placing it in individual freezer bags. There’s really no reason not to. If you live in an area where this is an option, look into buying a half cow from a ranch. You’ll save even more!
10. If you use a lot of batteries, you can save a ton of money buying them in bulk. This pack at Amazon is highly rated, and would you believe you get 100 batteries for less than $22? That’s a steal! There are smaller packs available if you don’t want so many, and you’ll still save money over buying the 4 or 8-pack sizes at the drugstore.
