If you like saving money, chances are you try to buy things when they’re on sale, even if it means buying more of it upfront. Good job! But if you want to kick your savings up a notch, here are some things you’ll want to buy each month, when you can get the most for your money.
1. January
In January, you’ll likely find better prices on bedding and linens, clearance Christmas decor, and snacks for the “big game” like pizzas, chips, and appetizers. Buy your frozen snacks now and you’ll be enjoying them all year. A lot of the non-frozen items, like chips, will store well in your pantry.
2. February
Now is the time to stock up on cold-weather gear like coats, boots, and mittens. You’ll also find better pieces on gift sets, candy, perfume, and anything that goes on clearance after Valentine’s Day.
3. March
March is the time to save on cleaning supplies (spring cleaning and all), small electronics, paper towels, and garbage bags.
4. April
In April, watch for great deals on cookware and dishes, easter supplies, and home goods like curtains.
5. May
This is the time to get ready to enjoy summer. Look for lower prices on picnic supplies like paper plates and plastic utensils. Also watch for charcoal and barbecue foods like burgers and hot dogs, plus condiments.
6. June
Stock up now on things like tools and ties (just in time for Fathers’ Day, too!), greeting cards, and mens’ gift sets. You’ll also probably find patriotic and picnic items on sale.
7. July
Save in July on summer clothing, soda, and summer decorations for your home and porch. Nothing wrong with buying for next year!
8. August
Stores will now begin closing out patio furniture and pool toys, along with things like summer clothes and sandals. Also look for packable lunch items such as granola bars, string cheese, and serving size cans of fruit. (Use code CJ10 to get 10% off at Abba Patio through December 30, 2022!)
9. September
Fall is the time to save on school supplies, as well as anything used for canning and food preservation. You can also save on big purchases like appliances and furniture during those Labor Day sales.
10. October
Now is still a good time to buy appliances as people gear up for holiday entertaining. Also find good deals on baking supplies like cake mixes, sugar, flour, and more.
11. November
This is when you’ll find clearance deals on Halloween costumes and decor for next year (and the year after!). There are usually a lot of big grocery sales in November, too, along those infamous Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. Keep in mind that you can buy things for ANY purpose during those sales…not just Christmas gifts.
12. December
Grocery deals abound at this time of year. Right after Christmas, stock up on wrapping paper, gift tags, and decorations that could be up to 90% off.
