In your efforts to save money, have you stopped to think about the things you waste your money on? You may think you don’t waste much money at all, but you might be surprised. We all do it, sometimes without even thinking. Read up on the top things you waste your money on before you decide!
Top Things You Waste Your Money On
We’ve talked about this before, but food is actually one of the top things we all waste our money on. How do we waste food?
- By not using it before it goes bad.
- Mistakenly believing it’s bad.
- Refusing to use leftovers.
Another big money waster are big sales. But how? Doesn’t a sale equate to saving money? The short answer to that is yes, but only if you’re buying something you needed anyway. Buying a bunch of stuff just because it’s on sale isn’t good for anyone. And it just clutters up your house!
Watch out for all those pesky, hidden fees. Where are all those hidden fees hiding? Watch for ATM fees, late fees, and banking fees. If you switch to an online-only bank, you can save a lot in the banking fees you’re paying the bank down the street from you.
If you’re paying for brand name prescription and over-the-counter drugs, you’re wasting your money. And lots of it! Did you realize that generic drugs are every bit as effective as their brand name counterpart? It’s true, because the FDA makes sure of it. Plus, generics and store brands save you a bundle.
Other Common Money Wasters
Look for these additional money wasters:
- Brand name anything
- Buying new when you could buy used
- Credit card interest
- Cable TV costs
So where do you rate with these top things you waste your money on? There’s always time to make a goal to do better!
