You may think that your spare change isn’t good for much, but you’d most definitely be wrong. If you make a point to save up your spare change, it all adds up, and maybe even to a large chunk of change! There have been stories in the news about people who socked away anywhere from hundreds to literally thousands of dollars, simply by saving up their spare change. So how can you save your spare change and turn it into something bigger? Keep reading!

Money saving ideas definitely include spare change. The first thing you should do it get a jar. Easy enough, right? The size is up to you. If you select a small jar, be ready to dump that one into a bigger container once it fills. Clean out an old milk jug or even a 5-gallon container. Whatever you use, keep it handy because you’ll need it every day.

Now designate a purpose for the change you’re about to save up. Something out of the ordinary, such as a trip or other big purchase you’ve been eyeing. If you want, label the jar to remind yourself what it is you’re working for, especially if that will help motivate you for this challenge.

At the end of every day, toss ALL the change in your pockets into the spare change jar. And then the most important part is do not touch it. For anything. You need to let it just sit and grow for a while. How long? As long as it takes to be able to take that trip or buy that special something.

Another way to save up spare change? Consider the popular penny challenge. On Day 1, you put one penny into your jar. On Day 2, add two pennies. On Day 3, three more. And so on. At the end of a one year period, you will save $667.95 with only pennies!

Now do you see how much change really adds up? Take the challenge and start your own spare change jar today.
