Even if you’re a newbie to transcription, there are ways to make money from home — as long as you have a computer and internet. If you’re looking to help out the family budget or need to make some flexible money on the side, here are 10 companies that will pay you to work from home — for real.

1. Appenscribe

This company hires transcriptionists worldwide. If you’re fluent in more than one language, there will be more work available.

2. Bam!

Not just an expression, Bam! offers transcribing services for entertainment, finance, legal, and more. Contact them via email to apply and take their skills test.

3. Crowdsurf

This company deals in short transcription and captioning. There are usually a lot of jobs available.

4. Get Transcribed

For transcription or online reviewer opportunities, Get Transcribed pays up to 12 cents per minute for reviews + 23 cents per minute of transcribing.

5. GMR Transcription

Here, you’ll  usually find consistent availability. For some projects, you need to commit to transcribing and proofing at least 60 minutes of recordings every day.

6. Scribie

The rough thing about Scribie is that there’s a waiting list. But they do hire worldwide, paying $10 for every audio hour. Bonuses are also available.

7. Tigerfish

This company has a lot of variety in transcribing jobs — from focus groups to documentaries. There are three 5-minute tests to be considered.

8. Transcriptions ‘N’ Translations

These guys are based in Miami, FL, and they work for big companies including cable channels you probably know. If you pass the skills test, you’re likely in.

9. TranscribeMe!

Hiring both English and Spanish typists, TranscribeMe! pays weekly and will have you take a skills test that you can re-take every 24 hours if necessary.

10. Verbal Ink

The skills test here is probably more difficult than most others, but they’re a good company for any transcriptionist to get into. You can apply as a copywriter, editor, or proofreader as well.
