Save Money Buying High-Quality Generics Made by Big Names

November 24, 2017 by Hailey Harris Leave a Comment

If you want high-quality foods but enjoy saving money, chances are you buy store brands at least occasionally. But do you ever worry that the store-branded products aren’t going to deliver the same quality as the big names? If so, you might not have much to worry about. Sometimes, in fact, the two brands are exactly the same and made by the same manufacturer, meaning that the packaging is the only difference. Here are some great examples.

1. Trader Joe’s Pita Chips

If you love pita chips, there’s no need to buy the more expensive Stacy’s brand. The Trader Joe’s store brand is exactly the same and far less expensive.

2. Kirkland Signature Batteries

Have you ever bought batteries at Costco in a large pack and wondered if they were the same quality as Duracell? Well, they are. And they’ll cost you less per battery than the big name.

3. Kirkland Signature Pet Food

Concerned about the quality of what you feed your pets? At Costco, you can buy the Kirkland Signature Super Premium and Kirkland Signature Nature’s Domain pet foods. Rest assured, they are both made by Diamond Pet Foods, but the Kirkland stuff will save you money every time.

4. Great Value Peanut Butter

At Walmart, the Great Value line of peanut butter is manufactured by ConAgra foods, the same company that makes name brands like Peter Pan.

5. Milk

When it comes to milk, there are no branded cows. The stuff you get with the price-busting label is the same as the stuff you get from Viva. Might as well save yourself some money when it comes to milk!

6. Bandon Cheese

Bandon brand cheese is exactly the same as Tillamook. Why not save yourself about $1.00 on a 2-lb package?

7. Great Value Spices

Buying spices? The Walmart store brand is the exact same as McCormick, at up to a dollar less per bottle.
